Perhaps because I have met many foreign friends in my university life, I have increased a lot of curiosity about foreign cultures, and I want to have a deep understanding and personal experience, and then I have a thought: “they seem to enjoy about the exchange life, then why don't I try and get opportunity? ”. At that time, I was a senior, and I was facing the dilemma of finding a job when I was about to graduate. When I was confuse about whether I should continue to study or should find a job, then I knew about TIP program as a coincident. This project not only can intern in real working place, but also can have international courses and Italian language classes. This is such a great opportunity for me, so I applied it without hesitation.
Fortunately, I finally got the opportunity to participate in this internship. At the beginning I was worried because I had to go to a place that was very far away and completely different in culture also I had to live with nine partners who had never met before. As another way to say that we spent every moment in Italy, but as a person who likes to challenge and does not like to stay in the comfort zone, how can I be defeated by this little worry? In this project, my internship company is "Asterisco Tech", a research and development laboratory for the production of end-tests and R&D labs in the automotive and aerospace fields. There are more than 20 colleague in our company. I still remember the first day of the internship. I took the bus to the company. I walked up the stairs with a restless heart. I thought about what should I say when I saw them. I didn’t expect about that I greeted with a series of warm greetings when I opened the door. The boss introduced me to all my colleagues. I thought that the Italians should speak English more or less. But the fact is that almost all of them hardly to speak English. This made me very surprised, but also because of this, I am more serious about learning Italian. I hope that at least I can have basic conversations with them. I am glad that even my colleagues don't speak English very much, they still work hard and enthusiastically want to chat with me. We are all really happy about that. In one week, I already got really close to all my colleagues. We were not only help each other at work, but we also met and had dinners together and showed me around. About the work, my boss shared with me some ideas about developing Asian market and discussed about how to start, so I started with setting up the company's Chinese official website and designed new version of the Chinese/English catalogue, company machine and learned how to draw engineering drawing too.
In the past six months, I have learned not only the skills at work, but also friendship of colleagues and the smoother communication skills. As the captain of the ninth TIP program. Since I joining the project I already have a lot of responsibility. It is not only need to solve many things for all TIP program partners in Italy, but also need to be the communication between professors and students. Because of this, I learn more, be more responsible, and got more. I am really happy about having the opportunity to be a member of this project, and because of this, let me clear more about what I want in the future and what I want to do, “Don't wait for opportunity, but to create opportunities.”
If you never try, you will never get what you want. I am really glad about what did I choose at that moment. During this half year, I have no regret and I am really cherish about having a lot of friends on the other side of the world.
