Remember, I knew the International Internship Program in freshman getting started. And, I told myself, ‘ I want to go to the practical training. ‘ Then, I make my effort to learn within three years. Through the trial, finally, I enter my dream of Big Four CPA Firm- PricewaterhouseCoopers Taiwan (PwC Taiwan).
I still remember the first day that I into PwC. I felt a sense of tension and anticipation. It is start to my fulfilling internship life. PwC is an international and multicultural business. Intensive three-week training course, in addition to learn our audit services work quickly and professional competence, I deeply appreciate the PwC people-oriented concept during training. And I learn together with colleagues from different place for the common goal. We won the honor for our team. It’s like to volunteer system in the school. Teamwork is definitely important in CPA firm.
Because I am an intern student. I am not as same as colleagues with fixed work team. I am a little like the fire brigade. Where there is a need, where I go to support. So I have gone to many companies to do fieldwork. And I am the first person have opportunities to visit more clients. To me, it is a best chance to learn. When the fieldwork, in addition to let me know the importance of teamwork, but also let me know asking more, look more, taking notes and more thinking to be able to maximize efficiency. Remember teachers in school, often ask a question, and we always keep calm. Every student always head down. Waiting for the standard answer from teachers. The negative learning is not appropriate ways in workplace. We have to understand the customers' current financial situation in short time for audit work. And sure every report can be fair presentation is our work, too. If I encounter some problems in audit work, there are many ways to solve. Like I can read the last year or last quarter work papers and ask my colleagues. I can ask client directly, too. When I solve problem, I record answers. On the one hand to make me a deeper impression, but on the other hand can make next audit colleagues encountered the same problem getting answers quickly. But it is more careful to think about the answer whether reasonable or not. Develop myself to initiative, active learning and independent thinking attitude is also very important in workplace.
In this year of internship, my colleagues often inquired me, ‘ Why do you want to intern here? ’ I always answer I want to combine schoolwork with practical experience. When I studied Auditing in school, I thought it is a theory and a little abstract, not concrete subject. But one year passed that I interned in PwC, I more understand how to use Auditing concepts on work. I think it is the best gain in internship for me. However, I am live in the middle of Taiwan. Because of internship, I went to Taipei. Facing new environment and challenges, I trying to adapt to different living area. To me, this is a good opportunity to hone myself. So I can grow and strong more. And let me experience a different life.
As the saying goes: "Fools rush in where the angels fear to tread," perhaps for interns, young is our capital. We have to step out of our comfort zone bravely, hold every opportunity to learn, find our own position at work and try more different possible. After all, everyone will enter workplace. I think I am lucky to experience working life earlier than classmates. I will do my best to enrich myself and continue to complete my goal. Keep it up.
